The Bainbridge Island Fire Department anticipates a Fall hiring process for firefighter/EMT with training to begin in January.

NEW HIRE FIREFIGHTER/EMT:

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department hires motivated individuals with no required previous fire or EMS experience to train and serve as full-time career firefighter/EMTs.  To be considered for employment, you must first pass the Public Safety Testing (PST) written exam and submit that score through their website.  BIFD will consider all passing scores posted in the prior year.  We will send applications to everyone who has posted a passing score.  Those applications must be completed and returned with proof of a successful CPAT in the last 12 months.  See below for links and key dates.

Hiring details/required to apply:

Key dates:

  • July 7, 2025: BIFD will send an application and a homework assignment to everyone who has posted a passing written test score within the previous twelve months
  • August 4, 2025: at noon: assigned homework, applications, and proof of CPAT letters deadline
  • August 18, 2025: between 0900 and 1100, online exam focusing on BIFD
  • September 8, 2025: times by invitation: Assessment center at BIFD Station 21 for up to 18 (including panel, presentation, and practical)
  • September 22, 2025: times by invitation: Chiefs' panel
  • January 2026: Start of EMT and Fire Academy training in Bremerton
